Focus on Mustang, If You Can Keep Up

Many Canadian automotive journalists recently traveled to Mont Tremblant, Quebec, to take part in the Ford Mustang and Focus Ride and Drive 2005. Media were encouraged to "Focus on Mustang" and "Spring into Summer." Focus and Mustang Chief Engineers, Steve Pintar and Paul Randle respectively, started the day with a walk around of both vehicles at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Peter Jansen, brand manager for both Focus and Mustang at Ford of Canada, also discussed the upcoming changes to both vehicles in the 2006 model year.

Journalists were eager to hit the track and put the cars through their paces. For those who really wanted to test the limits of the vehicles, Alex Tagliani, driver in the Champ Car World Series, was available to take those interested around the track in a "hot lap." Journalists were driven around the track in a Mustang GT at breakneck speeds.

"The new Mustang is a great car," said Tagliani, fresh off a lap. "I've been taking this car around the track all day, and it handles as good now as it did on lap one. The brakes held up all day as well, and driving at these speeds with these blind corners, that's just an impressive car."
