Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo began in 1910 as A.L.F.A. (or Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica di Automobili), growing out of the company Societa Italiana Automobili Daracq, the latter being the Italian offshoot of a French car company. Armand Peugeot was in at the very beginnings of the automobile. The descendant of a long line of engineers who pioneered steel processing, he started his career as a bicycle maker and then built a steam car in 1889.
